County Commissioners make up the County’s governing authority which directs and controls county property, levy taxes, adopt county budgets, develop and maintain county roads and bridges, and handle many other functions related to the health, safety and welfare of the community. County Commissioners are elected to serve a four-year term, and the County Commission Chairman is voted upon and elected by citizens countywide.
Commissioner Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meeting location alternates monthly between Pembroke and Richmond Hill. Meetings for odd numbered months are held in Pembroke in the Commissioners Meeting Room, located at 26 N. Courthouse Street. Meetings for even numbered months are held in Richmond Hill, at the Administrative Complex, located at 66 Captain Matthew Freeman Drive.
