New Purchases: 1986 and Newer 

You will need: 

• Previous Owner's Title. 
  • If the title is from another state, a T-22B must be completed
    
    
• Georgia Driver’s License/ID reflecting correct address.
  
  

• 30-day binder as proof of GA insurance for the vehicle or electronic submission of insurance if policy is more than 30 days old.

• Supporting Documents indicating a name change, inheritance, liens, etc. 

*Normally, a dealership or lien holder will apply for the title and send/give the receipt to the buyer. Bring this receipt, along with insurance information to us so that we can either issue a new plate or transfer an existing one. 

New Purchases: 1985 and Older 

You will need: 

• Title if the seller provided one 
  
  

• Bill of Sale, including Vehicle Identification Number, year model, make of vehicle, date of sale, signatures of both buyer and seller, and purchase amount 

• Georgia Driver’s License/ID reflecting correct address 

• 30-day binder as proof of GA insurance for the vehicle or electronic submission of insurance if policy is more than 30 days old. 

• VIN Verification from GA Law Enforcement (form T-22B) 

Leased Vehicles 

New Lease (Purchased from Dealer) 

• A copy of the lease agreement, MV-1 with lease section completed by dealership, a copy of the Bill of Sale and Georgia Driver’s License/ID reflecting correct address 
  
  
• 30-day binder as proof of GA insurance for the vehicle or electronic submission of insurance if policy is more than 30 days old

Leased Vehicle Moving From Out of State

• An original Power-of-Attorney authorizing lessee to sign on behalf of leasing company

Moving to Georgia

Military 

OOS - Out of State 

You will need: 

• OOS title or copy of OOS title if available and current out of state registration if title is held by lien holder 
  
  

• If the title is held by a lien holder, a VIN verification from GA Law Enforcement T-22B, is needed. 

• Vehicle's owner and lien information sent from the finance company if title is held by lien holder 

• 30-day binder as proof of GA insurance for the vehicle or electronic submission of insurance if policy is more than 30 days old 

• Current driver's license; if you have a GA Driver’s license it must reflect your current address.  

• Military orders 

• Serviceman's exemption affidavit, PT-472NS, if Georgia is not your home of record 
  
  

Title from a Foreign Country 

You will need: 

• All Overseas Registration Original Documents: EPA, HS7, CBP7501, DD1252 and T-22B 
  
  

• If vehicle was purchased overseas, a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin must be provided to register 

• Georgia DL/ID or Out-of-State DL if active-duty military; if you have a GA Driver’s license it must reflect your current address. 

• Serviceman's exemption affidavit, PT-472NS, if Georgia is not your home of record

Trailer Registrations 

Trailers with Gross Vehicle Weight under 2,000 lbs. 

You will need: 

• Bill of Sale with Vehicle Identification Number, year model, make of trailer, and must include the amount of purchase or value of trailer.

Homemade Trailers (Two Part Process)

1st Visit – You'll need:

 Form T-22C will be generated in office and provided to you. Once the T-Plate is fixed to the homemade trailer, contact your local police department using the non emergency dispatch number and request an officer for a VIN verification. The officer will complete this form and give back to you to bring back to our office.
